The Second Meeting of High-Level Cooperation Authorities to be held at OAS Headquarters in Washington, D.C., September 20-21, 2018. This Specialized Meeting of the Inter-American Council for Integral Development (CIDI) is being organized in conjunction with the Government of Mexico as Chair of the Management Board of the Inter-American Agency for Cooperation and Development, under the theme “Strengthening capacity for development cooperation and partnerships: building resilience to disasters”.

The Organization of American States (OAS) plays a catalytic role in fostering cooperation and partnerships for development in the region. Moreover, the OAS recognizes that the attainment of the 2030 Agenda and its 17 goals relies on the work of all stakeholders as interdependent partners in development.

Considering the recent challenges posed by disasters in the region, the meeting proposes a specific dialogue on cooperation for building resilience to disasters as a sub-theme. In this regard, the meeting will bring together the Authorities responsible for disaster risk management and other stakeholders, to lay the foundation for more effective regional cooperation and successful public-private partnerships geared towards building resilience to natural disasters in the Americas.

A Partnerships Fair will complement the dialogue, as a showcase of existing solutions, products, and services from public, private, and academic entities interested in advancing public-private partnerships in the region.
